July 03, 2017. Dr. V. Gkisakis of Agroecologiki SP, participating in the end conference of Agrispin, an H2020 project, regarding Space for Innovation in Agriculture. Agrispin identifies best practice for innovation brokering and support systems. It examines the practice of innovation today by answering questions such as: How does the European farmer seek information and support? What competencies does he expect of his advisor? What kind of innovation support system is in place today?
April 20-21, 2017. In Porto, Portugal for the 2° meeting of Rusdela Project aimed to create a useful toolkit for sustainable & resilient strategy planning for policy makers of the rural context. Rural development, innovation and agroecology will be the main topics of our toolkit. Dr. V Gkisakis presented on the Agroecology part of the toolkit.
November 12-15, 2016. During the 2nd Panhellenic Congress of Organic Agriculture and Livestock management, Dr. V. Gkisakis, presented on Agroecology and the environmental impact of agriculture. The Congress was held in Sidirokastro, Serres, and was organised by the Union of Organic Farmers of N. Greece.
November 03-07, 2016. Dr. V. Gkisakis, of Agroecologiki lectured on Agricultural biodiversity and the agroecological aproach in Agriculture, during the Seed School held in the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania (MAICh), by the organisation Aegilops..
October 03-07, 2016. Dr. V. Gkisakis, of Agroecologiki lecturied on Organic Agriculture and Sustainable Food Production Systems for the 3rd OER-aRD training seminar, an Erasmus+ project for Developing Open Educational Resources and Blended Modules for Agriculture and Rural Development. The lecture had a duration of 20 hours and took place in the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania (MAICh).
August 28, 2016. Dr. V. Gkisakis, of Agroecologiki participated in the cultural events of Sivas community, in south Heraklion area, Crete. He presented the role and services of functional biodiversity in agricultural productions systems. The presentation was held in collaboration with the local group of Peliti, the main seed exchange network in Greece.
July 8, 2016. Agroecologiki, by Dr. V. Gkisakis, participated in the steering committee of the Adapt2Clima Life+ project, dealing with the adaptation to Climate change Impacts on the Mediterranean islands' Agriculture. The overall aim of the LIFE ADAPT2CLIMA project is to increase knowledge on the vulnerability of EU Mediterranean agriculture to climate change and to support decision making for adaptation planning. The methodology is based on the deployment of a set of climate, hydrological and crop simulation models for the assessment of climate change impacts on agriculture, as well as, on the development of a decision support tool for the elaboration of adaptation strategies for the agricultural sector. June 22-23, 2016. The European Commission within the framework of the European Innovation Partnership for Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability (EIP-AGRI) organised on 22-23 June 2016 in Sofia, Bulgaria. the seminar on Data Revolution in Agriculture. 5-8 June 2016. An intensive seminar circle on Sustainable Olive production was delivered in the Mediterranean Agronomic institute of Chania (MAICh) in collaboration with ELGO-Demeter, organised by Minerva SA. The seminar covered all aspects of sustainability with regards to Best Practices in Olive production. Dr. V. Gkisakis of Agroecologiki presented the Best Practices with regards to Energy & Carbon footprint of olive production and the use of Agrobiodiversity in agriculture.
May 30-31, 2016. Dr V. Gkisakis of Agroecologiki participated in the 1s workshop of the Horizon2020 project Capsella, which took place in Italy, in Volterra, Tuscany, near Pisa, at the SIAF premises. The event acted as a forum where farmers, both from the organic and conventional world, networks, clusters, stakeholders and ICT and data experts were given the opportunity to exchange ideas and share thoughts about how to better address challenges and needs that still lie ahead, primarily focusing on the domains of both organic and conventional agriculture across Europe.
April 5-8, 2016. The 5th traditional varieties seed exchange festival took place in the region of Heraklion, Crete, organized by the local group of Peliti, the main seed exchange network in Greece. This year the invited guest speaker was Pierre Rabhi, of the French organisation Terre & Humanisme. Dr. V. Gkisakis of Agroecologiki, presented an introduction to the Agroecological approaches in agriculture for the transition towards sustainable production systems.
November 15, 2013. Dr V. Gkisakis of Agroecologiki was invited to participate as an expert in the a conference conducted as part oft the EU-project Inprofood, funded under the 7th framework of science and society. The conference covered important areas in food & health, such as education, involvement of citizens, eating patterns and partnerships between industry and science.
